Do Less to Do More

Being a small business owner typically comes with wearing lots of hats and serving several roles within your own company. It can be a challenge to find ways to grow when you're running out of hours in the day. Maintain a work-life balance while reaching milestones in your business by boosting efficiency in the way you do things - we’re doing less to do more!

1. Respect your time.

Value your time as a business owner and hold yourself accountable to get your priorities accomplished each day. Ensure that each task has a clear goal and that you understand what you're working towards. Communication is key for keeping up with clients, but don’t feel the need to schedule a meeting unless it has an agenda and purpose for each of you. Your clients will also appreciate your being mindful of their time, as well!

2. Provide yourself the tools to succeed.

You might not realize how much time could be saved using tools and resources available to business owners. Even free platforms like click up and Google drive can make a major difference in your productivity. If you are someone that is always looking in a different place for what you need, create an organized system for your business that works. Keep all of your files in one place, organize your tasks in a central area, and use a password log to easily access all of your accounts.

3. Focus on one thing at a time.

Entrepreneurs naturally try to multitask with accomplishing our goals for the day. However, focusing on one task at a time can actually help you accomplish these tasks quicker, allowing you to move through your task list faster than ever before. Instead of attempting to work through a course while adding some finishing touches to a client project, allow yourself to relax and give your full attention to the priority at hand.

4. Delegate tasks so you can grow your business in other areas.

If you have a lot going on and aren't finding the time for sales, consider outsourcing some areas of your business! Passing off work from a department like marketing or administrative work can be a game-changer for growing your business. Use the extra time you get back to bring on more clients that you can give your full attention to! There are several incredible resources on the Internet you can use to find a virtual assistant for your business, including our Facebook group!

5. Know when to say “No.”

It can be tempting to take on many projects as you continue to reach goals in your business, but understanding your limit can help you be a better business owner to the clients you do have. Taking on too much can cause overwhelm and lead to projects that you’re not too proud of. Giving yourself the amount of work that you can handle is crucial for avoiding burnout when it comes to being an entrepreneur. You deserve to have a perfect balance between work and life - so set yourself up with a schedule that works for you!

The best thing about being a female freelancer is that there are rules, we get to create the work schedule and routine that works best for us. No two freelancers are the same, so no two schedules are either! It might be hard to imagine your life getting easier by actually doing less in your business, but hopefully, these strategies help you see the possibilities for time management!
