Introducing: FF 2.0
Drop everything - FF 2.0 is finally here!
If you’ve been part of our amazing community for a while, you’ve probably seen a few updates here and there, but today, we’re excited to announce that Freelancing Females is re-launching, properly, and we can finally share all the changes with you!
Our re-brand is both visual (we cannot express just how much we love our new design!) and technical (with new features, a new newsletter, and new resources added to our memberships!)
But, more than anything, we did this rebrand and launch for our members - by making upgrades to FF that help us grow with our community to meet their new challenges and to keep making freelancing easier for them.
“If it doesn’t scare you, you’re probably not dreaming big enough. ”
“Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself”
So, Why the Rebrand?
When Tia first started FF, it was just a small Facebook group designed to bring women together, and give them a space to talk about freelancing. Fast forward to 2025 and we’re a community of 230,000 incredible women - we’ve quite literally outgrown the original FF!
And, back in 2017, freelancing looked different. Since then, the industry has changed a LOT - there are more freelancers, clients want different things, and freelancers are facing different challenges.
As a community that was founded to support freelancers, we needed to adapt and grow as a business in order to keep providing relevant support to FF’s, and stay up to date with a fast changing world.
So - in 2024, we started to plan a new direction for FF - one that reflects how freelancing looks today, and that better meets the needs of the huge community that currently makes up FF - a full stack resource for women around the world to build the life they want, and the careers that they love.
(Want to know the full story behind the rebrand? You can read all about FF 2.0’s conception here)
Really, we’ve rebranded to make FF better - and here’s how we’re doing that:
Built by Freelancers, For Freelancers.
“Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”
A Better, More Sustainable Business
FF was created by freelancers, for freelancers. We try to create the community and the space that we would want, with resources that we actually use. But, as we’ve grown, in order to grow our team, and to actually meet the needs of the world's largest community of freelancing women, we need to also be strategic about how we run the business!
We don’t want to rely solely on social media or algorithms for FF - and from talking to our audience, we know they're on the same page too!
FF 2.0 is about creating a sustainable resource for freelancers, and giving them a home where they can grow and network without having to worry about algorithms or updates. We're building a space that will be here for the long haul, on our own terms, and every single change we’ve made to FF is with that vision.
A Better Community For Women
We love our new design. (We think we look good!) We love the partnerships and the new features we’re launching this year.
But, the re-brand and the re-launch is still 100% community-focused.
We spent a long time thinking about what the FF community needed, chatting to members, and listening to the new challenges our community was facing in 2024.
We've really focused on updating the parts of FF that people love, and toning down the things that people don’t. There are new ways for the community to grow and connect, new resources that help women navigate the current world of freelancing, and, we’ve added new ways for freelancers to find jobs and to scale. (More on that later!)
A Better Experience For Freelancers
FF 2.0 isn’t just about a glow-up - we also want to be a better resource for everyone. We’ve always focused on quality over quantity, but our community has gotten BIG and we needed to address that!
Our community is diverse (we love that we have women from all over the world, from different industries, backgrounds, and generations!) and so for this rebrand, we had to really think about how we could offer useful resources for so many different people.
With the new FF, we’ve been intentional in adding new features that benefit as many members of our community as possible, while expanding the features we have now to meet more specific needs.
So - we’re adding a bigger range of job listings to our newsletters, adding new ways for members to connect with people in their industries or locally, and getting a lot more specific with our content about the nitty-gritty aspects of freelancing.
Until now, FF has always been built organically, without outside funding, and so part of our rebrand was adding new ways that we can work with partners so that we can expand our team and our features, while still staying FF - a resource built by freelancers, for freelancers.
What’s been so fun about this is that we’ve been able to add new brand partnerships and campaigns, which has led to some of our favorite collabs, but also, to better resources for our community!
What’s New?
Ok - so we’ve talked about the why behind the re-brand - but you’re probably wondering about what’s actually changing inside Freelancing Females…
Everything you love is staying the same - we’re just adding some exciting new features.
These are some of our favorites:
A New and Improved Newsletter
We’re upgrading Freelancing Field Notes to match our new aesthetic. Which means that after talking to our readers, we’re adding new sections that celebrate our community more, and getting rid of some of the things that you just weren’t obsessed with.
(Not subscribed? Sign up here to see the new changes for yourself!)A Totally New Newsletter
We’ve launched a new networking newsletter, where we share weekly jobs listings, member networking opps, promos, discounts, and pitching tips for freelancers. (You can subscribe to that here!)
This is the place to go if you’re looking to simplify lead-gen or to partner with other FF’s (outside the Slack, anyway!)An Upgraded Membership Area
We’ve updated our website and membership area to make it easier for you to find what you’re looking for, access resources, and learn about all the features on offer at FF!Updated Templates
We’ve updated our templates (including new contracts, directory templates, and fillable downloads) with new, relevant content for 2025. (This new template shop will launch a little later in 2025, so look out for some upcoming news about that!)More Educational Content
This year, we’re adding new guides, workshops, and content collections to our membership area, to help both experienced and new freelancers navigate growing a business and being their own boss.Member-to-Member Spotlights
With FF 2.0, we’re helping our members connect with each other and be more visible by sharing their businesses, profiles and stories on our socials, newsletter, and on our brand new classifieds page.More Partnerships With FF
We’ve launched new ways for brands to partner with FF, and we’re creating new ways for freelancers to connect directly with brands.
(Interested in working with FF? Our partnership page has all the info you need!)
What’s Staying the Same?
This rebrand is really about building on what we have, so everything you love is staying the same (it just looks better!)
This is what we’re keeping at FF:
Pricing
Pricing is staying the same. All the new features are included in your current membership (unless you’re not a member, in which case - you can join right here)Directory & Job Board
The job board and directory are still here—just more streamlined, and with more support for creating your profile (we’re talking new templates and a profile set-up guide!!!)The Slack Community
The FF community is still the safe, supportive space you’ve always loved! We’ll still have monthly coffee chats, a member-only jobs channel, a place to promote your offers, and a chat where you can ask FF’s for advice.
We will, though, be adding new ways for FF’s meet each other by adding more channels for specific industries or cities, as well as more virtual networking opps and fun events inside the Slack!
Want to get specific with the details? We’ve got a full breakdown of all the new features here.
What’s Next?
A lot of the new changes and features are all already launched, and we can’t wait for you to dive in!
We’re also going to be rolling out more add-ons, campaigns, and content throughout the year, so keep your eyes on our socials (or the Slack, if you’re an FF) so you don’t miss any of the workshops or partnerships we have planned!
The Freelancing Females you’ve always loved is better, bigger, and ready to help you fall in love with freelancing and find success on your own terms.
Thank you all for being part of this journey, and we can’t wait to continue growing with you in the future.
