Everything Inside FF 2.0
Meet Freelancing Females 2.0 - the new and improved version of FF.
We’ve been waiting to tell you about it (desperately, actually!) and now we’re SO excited to introduce the upgraded branding, membership, platform (world, basically) that is FF 2.0.
But, amazing design and hot new socials aside, you might be wondering what that actually means for you?
If you’re an FF member, a follower of our community, or just new to the brand and trying to learn more - we wrote this post to give you the low-down on all the specific features you can find in the new and improved Freelancing Females.
(If you want to know a little more about the ‘why’ behind FF 2.0, or the BTS of how we planned the re-brand, we’ve written posts about that too!)
So - what exactly can you find in the new and improved FF? Let’s talk features:
“If you don’t like the road you’re walking, start paving another one”
“Others don’t control your career — you do”
Community
Freelancing Females has always been about community. We started as a Facebook group, and although we’re now a LOT bigger, we’ve stayed a place for women to find support, grow together, ask questions, and to be part of something special.
So - it was important to us that even as we evolved, we didn’t lose that community or vision - we just made it better.
After listening to our community on the things that they wanted, the focus of FF 2.0 has been to add new ways for our members to meet other freelancers, build connections and network.
Here’s what that looks like in FF 2.0:
The Slack Community
We are keeping the Slack group specifically for members, with channels where you can post jobs, ask questions, share wins and promote your business.
But, we’re also working on adding more Slack channels that are more specific and connect freelancers in different industries and locations (making it easier for you to organize meet-ups and network with freelancers doing exactly what you do!)
We’ll also still be running the monthly coffee-chats, (we would never get rid of those!) but we’ll also be adding new opportunities for virtual meet-ups and connections as we grow.
Member Spotlights and Features
We’re launching a brand new newsletter with a ‘member-to-member’ section, where freelancers can post networking opportunities, collaboration requests, partnership opps, and coworking invites!
We’ve also introduced member spotlights and features. This year, both in Freelancing Field Notes and on our socials, we’re sharing member success stories, highlighting more FF directory profiles, and sharing Q&A’s with experts within our community.
And, we’re now opening up featured spaces for members who want to promote themselves or their offers through our classifieds promo spots and in our new newsletter.
Our Socials
We’ve launched a new broadcast channel on Instagram, where we post exclusive tips, offers, polls and insights. (We also post on Threads, Stories, and LinkedIn, btw!)
And, of course, we’ll still have the OG Facebook Group!
Built by freelancers, for freelancers
“A woman with a voice is, by definition, a strong woman.”
Jobs
Freelancing Females, outside being a community, has always been a place where Freelancers can come to find jobs. At the start, that looked like FF’s sharing job opps in the Facebook group, and then we launched our member directory and job board.
But - when you’re a freelancer, you can never have too many ways to find jobs. We’ve been listening (promise!) and we know that lead-gen is important to our community, so we wanted to make sure we prioritized helping you land jobs as part of our re-brand.
FF 2.0 comes with a ton of new ways to find leads, land jobs, and grow your pipeline of work.
Here’s what that looks like:
A New Jobs Newsletter (!!)
We’re introducing a brand new jobs letter - with a bigger weekly list of job calls for freelancers, across different industries, experience levels and cities.
Separate from our regular newsletter, (Freelancing Field Notes, which is also getting an upgrade!) this newsletter is specifically designed to help freelancers network, find leads, and to give them an easy way to stay on top of new postings.
This weekly jobs newsletter will also include a ‘pitching’ section where we share actionable, relevant strategies for landing jobs in 2025.
(Not on the list for this newsletter yet? You can sign up right here)
Jobs Opportunities In the Member-Only Slack
Our Slack has a member-only jobs channel to post opportunities and find work, and we also have a Slack channel specifically for members to promote their biz or share their hottest offers!
New Member Directory Templates
We’ve updated our member directory templates to help you create a profile that stands out, and that looks good.
We’ve also created a guide to help you optimize your profile in the directory and attract the right people, as well as a specific Slack channel for getting real-time feedback from your biz besties in FF!
Member Spotlights and ClassIfieds
We have SO many amazing women in FF doing incredible things, and this year, you won’t be able to stop us talking about them! FF 2.0 will spotlight members a lot more on our socials and our newsletters (and we’ve added new sections to both just for this!)
This includes spotlighting more directory profiles, sharing success stories, and featuring members as industry experts, to help provide better value for the rest of the community.
And - we’re also opening up ads and promo opportunities for members (not just partners!)
This includes our new addition to our site, called Classifieds, which includes paid opportunities for members to feature their business, offers, products or jobs.
Freelance Resources
Over the last few years, we’ve been working to grow FF into a full resource hub for freelancers - with a 360 approach to making freelancing way easier. This will continue with FF 2.0 - just better, obviously.
We’re always growing our resource library and offerings to help as many FF’s as possible, based on what we think they need or what they tell us that they want!
Here’s what you can now find in Freelancing Females:
A Rate Calculator
After the popularity of our rate sheet (which we’ll still have!), we wanted to build on our mission to close the wage gap for female freelancers by launching a better, more comprehensive resource.
Introducing: the Rate Calculator (1.0)
Just answer a few quick questions and get a personalized rate recommendation sent straight to your inbox, so you know exactly what to charge based on your specific lifestyle and goals.
The Freelancer Tool-Kit
We get it - getting started with freelancing is a lot! There’s so much to learn, organize, and research - and we really wanted to make that easier for our community, especially the newbies!
We’re launching a freelancer toolkit - an all-in-one resource for new and experienced freelancers, complete with exclusive partnership codes, custom-designed decks and graphics, and a collection of our fav freelance resources - easy to access and pre-selected for you.
Contracts and Templates
One of the hardest parts of freelancing is trying to find high-quality resources you can trust, so we’ve been working to expand and update our library of vetted contracts and templates.
We’re re-launching our template shop later this year, with better templates and contracts that are up-to-date and created by experienced professionals, so our freelancers don’t have to waste time wading through random resources online and can streamline their projects, business, and growth.
Hot New Merch
We’ve given our merch shop a BIG glow-up to match our new design and look. If you love our new branding as much as we do, you can find the same designs on office decor, freelancer gear and, of course, the work-from-home uniform (comfy sweats and tees!)
Partnerships and Exclusive Offers
One of the most exciting parts of FF’s evolution over the past few years has been our partnerships and collabs with amazing brands that share our mission of supporting Freelancing Females.
We’ll be continuing this with FF 2.0, but with some upgrades and changes:
New Partnerships
As we grow, we’re always looking to work with new partners and brands, especially ones that we know our audience loves. Through this rebrand, we’ve been talking to our members to find out which partners and tools they want, and those are the offers that we’ll be focusing on in 2025!
Our planned partnerships will include exclusive offers and promos for FF’s, collaborations to help support and fund female-led projects, new grants and funding opps for women, and workshops with industry experts to help keep our FF’s up-to-date with freelancing in 2025.
New Promos
We’ve decided to move our partnerships, promos and offers into a few specific places so that it’s easier for freelancers to find what they need. From now on our offers (including FF exclusive discounts and grant opportunities) will be published in our new jobs newsletter, or under the new FF Fav’s page on our website.
New Ways To Connect
With FF 2.0, we want to bring brands, partners and freelancers together, and make it easier for them to collaborate.
So - we’ll be launching a new UGC freelancer program! Our goal is to help partners and freelancers work together (with FF) to celebrate and support the freelance lifestyle, and to help meet our goal of building a community that’s in love with freelancing.
Throughout 2025, we will continue adding to this list as we grow, but for right now, we’re just excited to support our members with FF 2.0, and to introduce you all to the new brand!
And - if you’re not a member and you want to get access to all the features on this list - you can join our community and become an official FF right here.
And - if you have any questions about the rebrand, the features, or FF - you can send us an email at hello@freelancingfemales.
